With a new single from Willoh on the way, revisit “Shogun” from her debut album – Aipate
Zero. That’s how much I knew about Willoh before stumbling on her self-produced debut album, not more than that, but more please.
As I have since come to learn, the 19-year-old artist from the US state of Missouri, dropped that album early this year. She’s since embarked on a new era, with a new single slated for release on October 10th.
“Shogun” is one of the standouts on the album. The track brings to the showcase Willoh’s refreshing brand of bedroom pop.
About the song, she remarked: “Throughout the creation of ‘shogun’, I learned about resilience. Not the kind that feels heroic, but the kind that’s quiet and stubborn, the kind that forces you to keep standing even when doubt keeps pulling you down. I wrestled with fear, anger, and the weight of expectations, only to find small sparks of strength buried inside those struggles. Each part of the song was written in the thick of those battles, capturing both the chaos and the clarity that comes with refusing to surrender.“
