archie reveals new single and video, “Dysfunctional” – Aipate

Scottish artist archie is releasing — or, rather, has just released — his first single in months. The new song is called “Dysfunctional” and, with it, the heavily tipped pop newcomer shows us why he deserves all the attention he’s been getting.

archie released his debut single, “Nicotine”, in 2021. However, it is last year that he was most active, releasing three singles, “Olivia”, “Chasing Daisies” and “Colourblind”. This new song is actually his first offering of 2025.

I would describe “Dysfunctional” as a groove-driven pop track with heavily infused with disco/dance elements. The song’s beautiful accompanying music video was directed by Michael Yu.

“‘Dysfunctional’ is about the never-ending cycle of me finding myself in messy, chaotic relationships, always with dysfunctional people. But over time, I started to realise that maybe the problem wasn’t just them… maybe I’ve been the dysfunctional one all along,” archie remarks.
