Mega teases upcoming EP with new single “Roots” – Aipate

Listening to UK singer-songwriter Mega for the first time will have you asking yourself why you hadn’t discovered her much earlier.

Also known as Megaishername, the vocally gifted artist usually leans into her gospel music roots, infusing elements of soul, jazz, pop and indie to create songs that are as gorgeous as they are soul-stirring. We have shared her music in the past.

I have just listened to her newest single, “Roots”, and I’m beyond magnetized. Excitingly, there’s upcoming body of work from which the song is lifted (I Am Enough is scheduled for release on September 26th via Nettwerk).

The new song mixes folk-pop sentimentality with the warmth of soul. The lyrics and melodies are so uplifting.

“‘Roots’ is a grounding, soul-searching anthem about reconnecting with your foundation when life gets noisy. It explores identity, self-worth, and finding strength in where you come from,” Mega shares, adding that the song was inspired by moments of doubt and reflection.
