Ahead of her upcoming EP, Sidney delivers “long haul” – Aipate
In about two weeks, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Sidney will be releasing a new EP named what if it ends?.
The EP is a collection of songs inspired by the constant the conflict between the demands of her career and what the heart wants. That sentiment is perfectly captured on “long haul”, the EP’s final single. The emotional indie pop song features an earworm of a hook.
Explaining the lyrics, Sidney says: “I was travelling constantly for work and loving what I was doing, but I couldn’t bring my partner with me. We were fighting a lot. I wanted him to celebrate the wins with me, and I felt guilty for being away, even though I wasn’t going anywhere emotionally. ‘Long Haul’ was my way of reassuring him – and maybe myself – that I was all in.”
From the songwriting and production to the accompanying visuals, serious work went into this release. With “long haul” already out, I can’t wait to hear the entire collection.
