Meet Sofi de la Torre and dive into the haunting soundscapes of her new song “can’t be a superstar” – Aipate
Las Palmas-born Spanish artist and producer Sofi de la Torre‘s music career has seen her become a global resident, living in cities like Berlin, Los Angeles and London.
All these acquired cultural influences have enrichened her sound, which combines elements of pop, R&B and electronica. Being in the music industry, however, can take a toll on an individual. Sofi’s new single “can’t be a superstar” reflects on the challenges that come with the pursuit of success.
“This song is a conversation with myself,” Sofi says about this haunting alt-pop track. “I’ve always felt like I sit somewhere between wanting to be seen and needing to disappear. ‘Can’t Be a Superstar’ is me letting go of a version of success that never really fit.”
She wrote and produced this song herself, pointing us to her new creative direction: stripped-down, bold and uncompromisingly honest. The track blends gripping piano chords with moody synths, subdued percussion and raw vocals.
“can’t be a superstar” gives listeners a taste of de la Torre’s upcoming album, Like I Won’t Bleed For This, which is an ode to growth and resilience.
