Luminiah invites listeners to her world with new songs “out in time” and “strawberry wine” – Aipate
An alt-R&B artist bubbling under in Berlin’s vibrant music scene, Luminah has crafted an intoxicating brand of neo-soul.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter is originally from the US state of New Mexico, where her upbringing involved singing blues and folk alongside her grandad in the streets of Santa Fe.
In Berlin, Luminiah is currently working with the music company Lekker Collective. She usually gets to mingle with other free-spirited and genre-bending musicians such as frequent collaborator Jonas Oberstaller, who co-wrote and co-produced her two new songs: “chapter I: out in time” and “chapter II: strawberry wine”.
A showcase of her alluring vocals and mellow sound, these tracks exemplify her tendency to write from a personal perspective. On “out in time”, she sings about being overwhelmed by a love interest’s idealization of her.
“I wrote this song about being put on a pedestal in the beginning stages of love and wanting to retreat. Love should feel like an equal partnership. I’ve been on both sides, and it doesn’t feel good from either end,” Luminiah explains.
“strawberry wine” is the exact opposite. It is an alluring ode to a love that dispels any lingering fears, a surrender to the sweeping feeling.
