Tear Kim delivers Record of Tears EP – listen – Aipate
South Korean artist Tear Kim released an EP titled Record of Tears a couple of months ago.
I got to listen to the 6 gorgeous, acoustic-leaning indie-pop/rock tracks this week and I’m totally impressed. Even without understanding the lyrics, which are delivered in Korean, by the way, I found the EP so captivating, the layered instrumentation on each track augmenting the emotion in the lyrics.
Kim did provide insight on the EP, calling it “a personal collection of moments when I was most emotionally vulnerable—times of sadness, quiet longing, and reflection.“
He added: “Each song is like a small bottle holding a memory, capturing the tears I couldn’t show. Through this EP, I wanted to preserve those fragile but honest emotions, and offer comfort to anyone who’s felt the same.“
The focus track, “Trace”, is a grippingly melancholic song about an unforgettable experience.
Throughout the EP, we are treated to elegant production, the guitars, piano melodies, and percussion combining beautifully with the emotionally rousing vocals. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to Record of Tears; it’s simply amazing.
