This time Innermost has written three very intimate and melancholic songs in a quite different style from their previous pieces and it’s their most ambitious release yet. The need for new sounds, instruments, layers and textures made them realize that this time they would need some help to get the vision across.
On the flute Christian Aguirre managed to get the unbelievably talented Annarella Sörlin. Ever since he heard her project Annarella & Django he knew he wanted to collaborate with her in some way. Her flute playing has brought their songs to new heights and is one of the most prominent elements in the sonic spectrum of the EP.
Christian’s talented friend Melissa Wallbom has joined this time and plays the peruvian Cajón. Her playing is especially showcased on the intro of one of the songs which Christian personally thinks is one of the best moments in the whole EP. It was so cool to finally introduce some peruvian elements to my music.
Because of the instrumental nature of my project he decided to write a poem in three parts as companion pieces to the songs. The poem fragments are read and recorded by Hanna Stenbeck (“The Actress” on Spotify) which provided her beautiful and haunting voice to be heard on all three compositions. And still it is Christian on electric and acoustic guitars, bass, synthetizers, cover art and everything in between.
